Carlisle Bay August, oil on Canvas. 24" x 60"
Detail from Carlisle Bay August

I very much enjoyed painting Carlisle Bay August.  Carlisle Bay is the heart of the island and has been since the 1600s when ships used to dock here to load sugar from the plantations.  In August there is a lot of activity on the beach - the air is hot, and people are cooling off in the sea.  There are not many yachts in the harbour because of hurricane season.

The tall building in this  detail is the Central bank of Barbados.  It looks beautiful in the evening light.
